AROUND THE WEB:

-- Tom Brady had a huge first day on Twitter.

The quarterback came out hot with an April Fools’ joke about retiring for his first tweet, before following up with “Was this a bad joke?”

Brady has over 285,000 followers at press time but he follows only 99 accounts so far. Those follows include Josh Gordon, David Ortiz, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Jimmy Garoppolo, Conor McGregor and Lindsey Vonn.

He also followed his wife, Gisele Bundchen, but not before following TB12 and the Patriots, in that order.

Brady also followed two media outlets: Barstool and Bleacher Report. Adam Schefter also got a follow.

There was also reaction from some of these follows to Brady’s first tweets.

And the Patriots realized if you search “goats” on Twitter, Brady’s account is one result.

-- Brad Stevens tried to prank his daughter with an April Fools’ Day joke on Monday and it ended up backfiring terribly on him.

When his daughter woke up that morning, Stevens told her she had the day off from school because a pipe burst in the building.

“She was pretty giddy and then I told her I got her,” Stevens said. “She was mad.”

But he then gave her a joke to use at school.

“She’s got a friend who’s a huge Virginia fan,” he said. “I told her to tell him that they re-reviewed the shot [from the team’s Elite 8 win> and it didn’t count.”

His original joke came back to bite him when a pipe broke later in his office.

“And then a pipe breaks in my office literally tonight,” he said. “So it’s karma.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "This guy is some kind of hitter. He and (Washington's Anthony) Rendon (also a Boras client) are probably going to be the two most focused on offensive players on the market as far as guys who are elite offensive players. Yeah … Not that I think about those things." -- Scott Boras, on J.D. Martinez at the press conference to announce Bogaerts' extension
