FOXBORO -- Although Rex Burkhead was not spotted at the start of Patriots practice on Tuesday, it didn't mean he missed the session altogether.
Burkhead was in the locker room afterwards and confirmed he did in fact practice. The running back told several reporters, including Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald, he was late to practice due to the birth of his son.
The veteran has been on injured reserve since Week 4 due to a neck injury suffered against the Lions. He returned to practice on Nov. 8 as one of the two players who will come off injured reserve during the year.
The earliest Burkhead can return to a game is against the Vikings on Dec. 2. He could be a huge boost to the Patriots running game, which right now only has Sony Michel and James White.
