Tom E. Curran on D&K provides update on Devin McCourty's 2020 status

On Sunday when speaking to the media via video conference, Devin McCourty did not take any questions and instead spoke for roughly six minutes on the killing of Breonna Taylor, inequalities in education and healthcare systems, police reform and a lack of diversity in the NFL when it comes to head coaches, general managers and owners.

Although it sounded like he does not plan on opting out, he did not say for sure that he's playing.

Appearing on Dale & Keefe Tuesday, NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran shared what he gathered after McCourty spoke. (Listen to the full interview here.)

“I exchanged a little bit of texting with Devin McCourty after he had made his statements just to clarify if he’s still on the fence, and he said he’s in," Curran said. "But, regardless of the opt out date if he feels unsafe and decides — he doesn’t care about the opt out date, he will make the decision that he feels is best for him.”

The opt out date is set for Thursday.

McCourty and a number of other Patriots were on the fields at Gillette Stadium on Monday.
