There will be no Willis Reed moment for Mac Jones and the Patriots this Sunday.
The team officially ruled out their starting quarterback for this weekend's game against the Green Bay Packers due to the ankle injury he suffered in New England's Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Jones attended Friday's practice and made some stationary throws but otherwise did not participate in the session, according to the team's practice report.
Reports on Friday morning suggested Jones would push to be a game-time decision for Week 4's road game at Lambeau Field, relaying that he had responded well to treatment on his ankle.
Bill Belichick had said he'd take Jones' status "day by day" several times this week. That process will now apparently be "week by week."
Brian Hoyer will start in Jones' place with Bailey Zappe set to back up the veteran.
