Red Sox reportedly set to DFA Hansel Robles

Hansel Robles is about to become someone else’s problem. After a lights-out April, the right-hander has been miserable for the Red Sox, and the franchise has seen enough.

Shortly after the right-hander gave up a run in Boston’s 8-4 loss vs. the Rays, Sean McAdam of Boston Sports Journal reported Robles has been designated for assignment.

Since the start of May, Robles has a 9.00 ERA, surrendering 15 runs in 15 innings of work. During that stretch, he’s given up 19 hits and 11 walks while striking out 14 (after punching out three on Tuesday). Robles also had six blown saves on the season.

The move opens up a roster spot for Brayan Bello, who will start for the Red Sox on Wednesday vs. Tampa Bay.
