The NBA Finals kick off Thursday night as the defending champion Golden State Warriors head to Toronto to take on the Raptors.

Kawhi Leonard's Raptors are appearing in the franchise's first ever NBA Finals. It's nice to see a non-LeBron team representing the Eastern Conference this season. The Ringer's Bill Simmons joined WFAN's Mike Francesa Thursday to break it all down.

"I'm excited to have some new blood in the Finals," Simmons told Francesa. "We had Golden State-Cleveland for four straight years and LeBron in there for eight straight years. It's nice to have not only Toronto in there out of nowhere and two of the weirdest NBA Finals sub-plots we have ever had. Kawhi potentially being one and done and KD whether he comes back, he might not come back. They might win the title without him and he's a free agent. I can't remember a Finals with two nuttier sub-plots than that."

Speaking of Durant...everyone is talking about the possibility of him coming to the Knicks. Simmons believes it's almost a definite that he does.

"I think he's going to be a New York Knick," Simmons said. "I think it makes a lot of sense for his career and where he's at and what he's done and what he wants to do, not only for a basketball player but all the other stuff he wants to do. I think it makes a ton of sense. I got to say, I think there's a chance of a KD, Kemba, Anthony Davis trioka. I don't think that's out of the question. I know that sounds crazy, but I really think all three of those things can happen. And I do think they're in the Davis sweepstakes. There's no question."

Kyrie Irving's future is a big unknown to Simmons and most experts around the league, but Walker and Durant could end up happening in New York.

"Kemba makes a lot of sense for the Knicks. I think KD and Kemba make a lot of sense just as a combo together. I really like that fit," Simmons said.

Leonard has been fantastic for the Raptors, leading the charge in what has been a somewhat surprising playoff run. It could be a one-and-done for Leonard though with Toronto.

"I would even say 90%. I don't think what's going in the Finals is going to change much. If anything they win the title and he leaves, I think Toronto would be so grateful anyway. He's a California guy. This has been rumored for two years. He pushed his way out of San Antonio for reasons that remain unclear...definitely wanted a bigger market. He bought a $14 million house a couple months ago outside of San Diego, which is like a 20 minute helicopter ride to the game. I would bet on that one."
