See, hustling can pay off.
Days after Robinson Cano felt the wrath of Mets fans for failing to run out two double-play balls in Miami, Amed Rosario sprinted to first base for a walk-off infield single to beat the Nationals 6-5 on Tuesday night. The bang-bang play scored Adeiny Hechavarria from third base.

— SNY (@SNYtv) May 22, 2019"My God, I think the Met players are listening to the Met fans venting on this radio station, because there's been nothing but venting since the weekend debacle down in Miami," WFAN's Boomer Esiason said on Wednesday's "Boomer and Gio" show.
"You know what I think? I think that the players hear it. I think the players have been booed. I think the manager's been booed. I think everybody's sick of it. They all know that they've underachieved, and when you come off a weekend series against the Miami Marlins and you get swept, you better come home and you better run your ass off and you better show that you actually give a crap and that you're worth something for the fans that are buying the tickets to come and see you.
"At least they responded in kind these last two games," Esiason continued. "Now the question is, can they keep it going? Can they save their season?"
After dropping five straight, the Mets have won their last two games to improve to 22-25 on the season. Esiason's co-host, Gregg Giannotti, isn't reading too much into the mini-win streak.
"I still don't think they're very good. I still don't think this is a team I can project being over .500 by the end of the year. They won a couple of games with their backs against the wall and their manager on the hot seat, and that was great that they responded. But just the roster construction, the fact that they've still got bad baseball players, they're still counting on guys in the back end of the bullpen that I don't trust -- and now with (Seth) Lugo not there, I trust that middle relief even less. I'm not going to get fooled or optimistic until I see this team get a couple of games above .500, stay there for a while and become a player in the National League.
"Why? Why give them anywhere near the benefit of the doubt?"
