Evan Roberts made a cameo on the "Boomer and Gio" show Tuesday morning and helped raise the decibel level in the process.
The somewhat heated exchange happened as Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti were discussing the Knicks and the possibility of their favorite NBA team winning the top overall pick in Tuesday night's draft lottery.
They called Roberts into the studio after hearing that the midday host had questioned Esiason's Knicks fandom.
Esiason admitted he had "checked out" in recent years.
"I've been very open about that until they get it right, I cannot watch," he said.
"That's not what a fan is," Roberts, a die-hard Nets fan, fired back.
Many Nets fans seem to be rooting against the Knicks in the draft lottery. When Giannotti asked Roberts why he seems to revel in the Knicks' misery, he answered: "A lot of Knick fans ... have this arrogance as if you're the Yankees, as if you've done something. You've sucked for two decades."
Then the conversation turned to the Nets -- and grew more heated. Esiason asked Roberts about when he eviscerated Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson on the air and then praised him weeks later.
Boomer said Roberts called for Atkinson to be fired, but Evan said that wasn't true.
"I never said that!" Roberts said. "You're a flat-out liar! I'm going to come on your show and tell you just like someone else has that you're full of crap! Prove I said that."
"I ripped him for not playing Rodi (Rodions Kurucs). ... Every Net fan knew if you play him, he adds a spark. Guess what he did, Boom!
"I did not like two things: It was Rodi, and it was the inability for this team to execute in the final two minutes," Roberts continued. "They started doing that a lot better."

You can also listen to — and download — all of the memorable audio from Tuesday's edition of the morning show with Boomer and Gio in one nice little package for your convenience. It's Zion Williamson or bust for the Knicks. The guys dedicated the majority of their radio show to spreading positivity and trying their very best to talk into existence the Knicks landing the No. 1 overall pick. Gio even dressed for the occasion and had his "lucky crystals" on hand. In addition to all of that fun, Cal Ripken Jr. stopped by.
