Melissa Etheridge joined 'Boomer & Gio' on Wednesday morning to promote her new album, "The Medicine Show."
Etheridge is a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and performed The National Anthem before the AFC Title Game.
"Arrowhead Stadium is just special to begin with," Etheridge said. "It's older, but it's so beloved there in Kansas City and the whole area."
The 57-year-old singer-songwriter recalled performing The National Anthem following 9/11 during the 2001 World Series.
"The way the whole country felt and every time you would sing The National Anthem -- and the pain we were going through and the healing we were trying to accomplish," Etheridge said. "Being in Phoenix, with the (Arizona) Diamondbacks who had never been that far before. It was beautiful. Actually, Senator (John) McCain -- I remember seeing him in the bleachers at that time. He gave me a wink and a nod. That was a beautiful time."
The Grammy and Academy Award winner detailed her career and opened up about her battle with breast cancer.
