The Jets' disappointing start is taking its toll on some of their most loyal fans.
New York lost to the Jaguars on Sunday and its record fell to 1-6 — third place in the AFC East. Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was sacked eight times and threw three interceptions in his first start since his four-interception, 86-yard performance against the Patriots.
On Tuesday, a Jets fan, John, called into "Mike's On" to vent his frustration when the organization reached out to him about the last home game he attended. Unfortunately for John, his most recent game was Gang Green's embarrassing 33-0 loss to New England. He didn't hold back when he voiced his displeasure with the product on and off the field in an email response.
"For a Jet fan, it's total humiliation," John explained to Mike Francesa. "We're watching a team that's un-coachable, unprepared and completely disorganized and I have to pay for that. OK? I'm a Jets season ticket holder since 1980."
Did a representative from the Jets respond to the longtime season ticket holder? John hasn't heard a response and isn't expecting one, either.
"They didn't answer the email," John said. "Of course not. Why would they? You go to the game. You're sitting in the seat, right? You have New England fans or visiting fans all over you, screaming at you, yelling at you, mocking you. That is the Jets fan experience in 2019. That's what it is and I've got to pay PSL (personal seat license) and pay my tickets and I have to be mocked for it at 67 years old. Does that make any sense? It doesn't make any sense to me.
"My wife ... you know what she does? She pities me! I'm pitied! That's the Jets fan experience."
Next for head coach Adam Gase and the Jets is a meeting with the winless Dolphins as they try to avoid losing their third straight game.
