Joe Judge said all the right things during his introduction.

The Giants officially unveiled their newest head coach at a press conference on Thursday. Judge spoke about his desire to establish an "old school, physical mentality" that "the people of this city and region are going to be proud of."

On Friday, Giants great Carl Banks joined WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts to talk about the hiring of Judge. Banks is a fan of the hire, saying the franchise "got a good one."

"I think the Giants got a good one," said Banks. "I think he's going to have success as the Giants coach. He subscribes to all the right principles. He's going to oversee both sides of the football, and I think right now, it's just a matter of him getting the right coaches."

Judge joins from the Patriots, where he has learned under Bill Belichick since 2012, when he first joined the staff. This past season, he was the special teams coordinator and the wide receivers coach in Foxborough.

As far as other coaches who could be working under Judge, ESPN's Jordan Ranaan reported that Freddie Kitchens is in the mix after he was fired by the Browns at the end of the season. Judge apparently will speak with Kitchens about a role.

Banks pointed to Judge's time spent in New England, and in Alabama, as a sign that he has learned how to teach players, especially on the defensive side of things.

"He talks about a philosophy of teaching, and I know that's something that he has been a part of in both Alabama and in New England. So, that's what, I know on one side of the football in particular, they lack. They lack teaching, the ability to adjust. The one thing that Joe Judge will do, is to keep everybody speaking the same language on both sides of the ball."

There's still a long time to wait until Judge's first test on the field with the Giants, but Roberts pointed out that he has done well with the media, which is crucial in New York.

"He's won the press conference! He won the interviews. People like him."
