Chris Mullin's job at St. John's appears to be safe, according to a statement issued by athletic director Mike Cragg.
“Let me be clear and I said from the start, Coach Mullin is our head coach and we are not looking for another head coach,” Cragg said in the statement.
Mullin led the Red Storm to a 21-13 record last season. St. John's reached the NCAA Tournament First Four, but lost to Arizona State, 74-65.
“Coach Mullin has been great throughout and I appreciate his passion for St. John’s," Cragg added."
In four seasons, Mullin has a 59-73 record. The Red Storm haven't advanced past the Big East Tournament quarterfinals under his watch.
The 55-year-old coach has two years remaining on his deal that pays him close to $2 million per season.
Mullin was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
