Enes Kanter will return to the Knicks next season.
The center informed the team Friday that he is exercising his $18.6 million player option for 2018-19, Newsday reported. Moments earlier, Kanter seemed to indicate his intention with a social media post that showed him being a campaign podium reading "KANTER" and "MAKE KNICKS GREAT AGAIN."

The Knicks acquired Kanter from the Oklahoma City Thunder in last year's Carmelo Anthony trade. He averaged 14.1 points and 11.0 rebounds in his first year in New York. He is projected to be the Knicks' starting center next season.
With Kanter opting in, the Knicks are now left with no salary-cap space, just an $8.6 million mid-level exception.
