Former Knicks Forward Eric Anderson Dead At 48

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Eric Anderson, a power forward on the 1994 Knicks team that reached the NBA Finals, died Sunday. He was 48.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Anderson died of natural causes, The Indianapolis Star reported Tuesday.


"It's cardiac-related, but natural causes until doc can confirm that in a report to me," Hamilton County (Indiana) Coroner John Chalfin told the newspaper.

A final report is expected in seven to 10 days.

Anderson spent two seasons with the Knicks, playing in 27 games from 1992-94. The 6-foot-9 220-pounder averaged 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds. Those were his only two years in the NBA.

The Chicago native was a McDonald's All-American in high school who went on to be a standout for coach Bob Knight at Indiana University. Anderson helped the Hoosiers reach the 1992 Final Four. He was undrafted coming out of college.
