The Giants may have allowed their best defender to walk out the door Monday, but at least the team will be hanging on to a key special teamer.
Big Blue and long snapper Zak DeOssie are close to a deal to bring the veteran back to New York, according to the New York Daily News' Pat Leonard.
DeOssie has spent his entire 12-year career with the Giants, joining Eli Manning as the only two active members of the team to be a part of the franchise's two recent Super Bowl victories.
The two-time Pro Bowl long snapper has played in 188 games, and has not missed one since 2015.
In other Giants news Tuesday:
- New York agreed to a two-year deal with safety Antoine Bethea, reuniting the veteran with defensive coordinator James Bettcher.
- Guard Jamon Brown, claimed off waivers in the middle of the 2018 season, has agreed to a three-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
- Big Blue announced the re-signing of fullback Eli Penny, who is entering his third NFL season.
