The Jets will have the third pick Thursday night in the NFL Draft. Most experts have predicted that they take either defensive lineman Quinnen Williams out of Alabama or edge rusher Josh Allen out of Kentucky. Well, that's if they do keep their pick.
The Jets could end up trading down in the draft if Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa is already off the board, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
24 hours ago, there was a sense the Jets wouldn't be able to trade down for a deal to their liking. Now, 3 GMs that I touched base with think the Jets definitely will trade out of No. 3 as long as Nick Bosa is not available. But they don't believe it will be with the Redskins
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) April 25, 2019ESPN's Rich Cimini took it one step farther when he reported that one team is under the impression the Jets already have a deal worked out to move back on the condition that Williams is still on the board at No. 3. Cimini added that the Buffalo Bills, who own the ninth overall pick, are a team to watch.
Sounds like there's a pretty good chance the #Jets trade down. One team already under the impression the Jets have a deal worked out with another team if Q Williams is available at 3. Keep an eye on Buffalo (9). Jets could get edge rusher or OLM in trade down.
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) April 25, 2019Bosa is expected to go in the top two to the Cardinals or 49ers, which could mean the Jets move down. If Bosa is still there at No. 3, the Jets would be getting quite the steal to add to their revamped defense under coordinator Gregg Williams.
If the Jets trade back, they could pick up additional draft picks while still addressing a major need at pass rush. Some possible options later in the first round include Michigan's Rahshan Gary, Clemson's Clelin Ferrell, Mississippi State's Montez Sweat, Houston's Ed Oliver, Clemson's Christian Wilkins and Florida State's Brian Burns.
