FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (WFAN) – Does it get more Jets than this?
New York announced Thursday morning that tight end Eric Tomlinson was placed on IR, but failed to share the reason behind the move.
It came as a surprise to many, considering the fact that the 26-year-old played in the team's Week 16 game against the Packers and had not been listed on the injury report prior to Thursday's announcement.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the tight end dropped a weight on his foot after practice Wednesday, lacerating two of his toes.
Tomlinson required surgery from the incident.
The third-year tight end caught eight of 14 targets for 72 yards on the season, mostly serving as a blocking complement for rookie Chris Herndon.
