We now know the Jets will start rookie QB Sam Darnold in their Monday night Week 1 matchup with the Lions in Detroit. Darnold may be down one of his top targets though. Jermaine Kearse may miss the season opener after undergoing a medical procedure for his abdominal injury, according to the NY Daily News.
Todd Bowles has offered no real timetable on Kearse's return, saying "day-to-day, week-to-week." Kearse didn't play in the final two preseason games.
If Kearse isn't ready, the Jets will rely heavily on Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, and Terrelle Pryor.
Kearse had a career high last season in receptions (65), yards (810), targets (102), and touchdowns (5) in his first season with the Jets.
