The Mets badly need some help right now as they enter a six-game homestand three games under .500 after going 2-5 on the west coast trip. They will get some assistance Tuesday night.
The Mets announced Tuesday they have activated Jeff McNeil from the injured list. They optioned reliever Tyler Bashlor to triple-A Syracuse. McNeil returns from dealing with hamstring tightness after he was the Mets best hitter at .333 with a .418 OBP.
Robinson Cano was not activated off the IL Tuesday as many expected him to be. Cano is expected to come back at some point this week.
Reliever Justin Wilson threw a bullpen on Monday and will throw a few more before being re-evaluated.
Dominic Smith is dealing with a right thumb strain, but is available off the bench.
The Mets are finally getting some reinforcements back and they need all the help they can get right now. Despite their struggles, they are still only 4.5 games back behind the Phillies in the NL East.
