Before the Mets begin their second half of the season Friday in Miami against the Marlins, they made a minor move to the bullpen. They have designated pitcher Wilmer Font for assignment. They have recalled Chris Mazza to replace Font.

Font was not very good in a Mets uniform after the team traded prospect Neraldo Catalina to the Rays in May to acquire him. Font mostly came out of the bullpen and made three starts with the Mets after posting a 5.79 ERA with the Rays in 14 innings. The righty had a 4.94 ERA with the Mets in 31 innings.

Mazza returns to the team after being sent down after just one outing, when he came out of the bullpen against the Braves on June 29. Mazza gave up one run in four innings after a rain delay. He was sent back down to triple-A after that game. He will get another chance here as he takes Font's spot as a long man in middle relief.
