Comparing watching Mickey Callaway manage games to an episode of the old gameshow "Press Your Luck," WFAN's "Carlin, Maggie & Bart" criticized and poked fun at the Mets skipper Tuesday afternoon.

"Mickey Callaway does not appear to be capable of managing a baseball team," Chris Carlin said.

The trio said Callaway made almost no sense when he tried to explain to a reporter after Monday's loss why he inserted reliever Jerry Blevins in the game when the Phillies' Odubel Herrera hadn't been announced as the batter yet.

"We didn't want them to even announce Herrera," Callaway said. "Herrera's hitting .301 with an .800 OPS against lefties. I thought that he was their best left-handed option off the bench, against a lefty, the numbers said. So I wanted to get out there as quick as possible and then let him make the decision if he wanted to continue to hit him. I mean, I'd much rather face a .189 hitter than one of their better hitters."

Callaway failed to mention that Herrera is 1-for-12 lifetime against Blevins.

In response, Maggie Gray joked that she wondered if Callaway had somehow "backed into some new way of managing that now we can call 'slipping people a Mickey.'"

"This is what bothers me the most. ... There is so little margin for error." Carlin said. "For the Mets to win games, you can't have things like this, from the manager, from the guy in charge! ... The manager, who half the season in, still has no clue what he's doing, can't just wait for two seconds for the umpire to turn around and point to the press box and say, 'This guy is in the game!' Oh my god!

"The only reason I'm watching the Mets now, for comedy! Comedic reasons!" Carlin added.
