The injuries have now hit the Mets hard. They announced Wednesday that outfielder Brandon Nimmo is now headed to the 10-day injured list with a stiff neck, retroactive to May 21. They called up outfielder Rajai Davis from triple-A Syracuse to replace him. They also designated reliever Paul Sewald for assignment.

The Mets haven't yet revealed the results for his MRI on his neck, but it's obviously in enough pain that he won't be ready to return. Nimmo has struggled mightily at the plate this season, hitting just .200 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 130 at bats.

The 38-year-old veteran Davis gets the call up for the first time this season. This is exactly why the Mets added Davis, who has been in the league since 2006. Davis was hitting .277 with three homers, seven RBIs and 14 steals in triple-A Syracuse this season. He should see spot starts in the outfield with Conforto still down with a concussion and now Nimmo on the IL.
