On Friday, the Mets designated outfielder Keon Broxton for assignment. On Wednesday, they announced they have traded him to the Baltimore Orioles for $500,000 in international bonus pool money.

Well, at least they got something for him. Broxon was abysmal for the Mets in his limited playing time, hitting just .143 with no homers and two RBIs in 49 at bats. The Mets acquired Broxton in the offseason from the Brewers for three minor leaguers.

Essentially they traded three minor leaguers and six weeks of service from Broxton for $500,000 in the international free agent pool.

Broxton was a major disappointment for the Mets, who made the right decision to part ways and now at least get something in return for him. On the plus side for the Mets, Broxton was only making $571,000 this season.

On an Orioles team that will probably lose 100 games, Baltimore may be a good spot for Broxton. He won't have any pressure on him there and can maybe see more playing time.
