Saquon Barkley's hamstring injury has Giants fans concerned as the regular season quickly approaches. On Wednesday morning, the rookie running back's status took a turn for the better. He announced to reporters that he would resume participating in individual workouts and later went through various drills with teammates.

The 2018 second overall pick tested himself with change of direction movements and route work with training staff on a side field while special teams drills were ongoing.

Barkley previously strained his left hamstring during an indoor practice on Aug. 13 in East Rutherford. He was held out of last week's 30-17 away win over the Detroit Lions.

The Giants play the Jets on Friday before wrapping up the preseason against the New England Patriots at home on Aug. 30. The Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Giants on Week 1 at MetLife Stadium on Sep. 9.
