The Giants’ selection of Duke quarterback Daniel Jones has divided opinion on social media. Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms, son of Giants’ great Phil is not impressed with Big Blue’s selection.

Simms stated his disappointment with the pick and compared Jones to failed signal caller Dave Brown.

Daniel Jones: disappointing. Reminds me of when the Giants took Dave Brown to replace my father. Duke. #17. Deja vu.

The mere mention of Brown’s name brings shudders up the backs of Big Blue diehards. David Gettleman and co. hope that history doesn’t repeat itself.

Meanwhile, seven-time Pro Bowler Michael Strahan welcomed Jones with open arms.

Welcome Daniel Jones to the greatest organization in sports, the NEW YORK @Giants. You’re in a great situation to learn from future Hall of Famer, Eli Manning. Trust me, as someone who came into the league and was able to learn from the GOAT, @LT_56! #GIANTSFAM

WFAN host Mike Francesa isn't impressed by the pick.

In 11 games for Duke in 2018, Jones completed 60.5% of his passes while amassing 2,674 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In his three seasons starting for Duke, the 6-foot-5 quarterback passed for at least 2,670 yards while running for at least 315 yards and three touchdowns every year.
