Adams was dissatisfied with Gang Green's defensive effort at Soldier Field.

"We just didn't come ready to play," Adams said. "We got punched in the mouth. It's as simple as that. There's really nothing else to say. Hats off to Chicago. They were a helluva a football team. We've got to find a way to win ballgames.

"As a defense, we've got to be better. We've got to stop the run. That's our emphasis going into next week -- being better at the run and being better at the point of attack."

During the beginning of the interview, Chris Carlin was startled by a loud buzzing noise on the other end of the line.

"Was that a plane flying over, Jamal?" Carlin asked.

It turned out that Adams was in the process of getting a haircut.

Adams was asked about the possibility of the Jets improving themselves before the trade deadline passes.

"All I can do is sit back and continue to do my job," Adams said. "At the end of the day, I can't control what goes on. I'm definitely seeing the trading going on. For me, it's exciting to see other players go to different teams and whatnot. Again, all I can do is control what I can control."
