The Jets have added Trevor Siemian as backup quarterback, according to Brian Costello of WFAN and the New York Post.
Siemian will reportedly earn $2 million in a one-year deal with a maximum value of $3 million. The 27-year-old spent 2018 with the Minnesota Vikings – but did not appear in a game last season. He previously called Denver home for three seasons.
Sam Darnold’s new understudy was a 13-11 starter for the Broncos. He has thrown 30 career touchdowns and has been intercepted 24 times. Josh McCown was previously Darnold’s backup.
Siemian owns a 59.3 completion percentage. He has engineered three fourth-quarter comebacks and two game-winning drives. The former Northwestern quarterback earned a Super Bowl ring as a backup for the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
