NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Mets have agreed to a deal with free-agent catcher Wilson Ramos on Sunday, according to multiple reports.
Ramos would earn $19 million over two years with a team option for the 2021 season. The deal is pending a physical.
If activated, the option would bring the total contract value to $26 million.
The 31-year-old batted .306 with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs in combined duty with the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies last season.
Ramos was selected to his second career All-Star Game in 2018. He captured the Silver Slugger Award in 2016.
Previously, the Mets were considered contenders to acquire J.T. Realmuto. The catcher position was a key need to be filled this offseason.
Now that Ramos is on his way to Flushing, the Mets have completed a major piece of their puzzle.
The Mets are yet to confirm the signing.
