The Mets released infielder T.J. Rivera on Saturday.
Rivera was limited to six minor-league games in 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery toward the end of the 2017 season.

The 30-year-old did not appear in any Grapefruit League games this spring due to discomfort in his surgically-repaired right elbow.
"From an evaluation standpoint, it's been difficult because (Rivera) hasn't been able to compete and leapfrog the other players that we have because he hasn't been able to play," general manager Brodie Van Wagenen told reporters. "We got to the point in camp where we need to make some tough decisions."
Rivera is a career .304 hitter in 106 career games. He batted .290 with five home runs and 27 RBIs for the Mets in 2017.
