Gary Sanchez is set to return to the Yankees' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels.


Sanchez has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old catcher had been on the IL since Apr. 12 due to a left calf strain.

Following Tuesday's game, the Yankees optioned RHP Chad Green and C Kyle Higashioka to @swbrailriders.Prior to tonight's game, LHP Stephen Tarpley was recalled from Scranton/WB and C Gary Sánchez was returned from rehab & reinstated from the 10-day IL.

The Yankees optioned right-handed pitcher Chad Green and catcher Kyle Higashioka to Triple-A Scranton to make room for Sanchez and left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley.

Sanchez played in a minor-league rehab game on Monday for Low-A Charleston. He went 0-for-3 and allowed two passed balls. Last season, Sanchez led the majors with 18 passed balls.

Through 11 major-league games, Sanchez is batting .268 with six home runs and 11 RBIs.

Since making his Yankees' debut in 2015, the powerful right-handed hitter is a .252 career batter.
