Backup quarterback Alex Tanney is returning to the Giants.

Big Blue announced Monday they've re-signed the 31-year-old signal-caller. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Tanney did not see any game action with the Giants in 2018, his first season with the team. He's played for eight NFL teams since going undrafted in 2012 and has thrown passes in only one game -- going 10-of-14 for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Titans in 2016.

Last week, Giants coach Pat Shurmur said he expects Eli Manning to be back with the team in 2019, although general manager Dave Gettleman stopped short of committing to the two-time Super Bowl MVP. The Giants also could add Manning's eventual successor this offseason.

The team also has Kyle Lauletta, a fourth-round pick in 2018, on the roster. He and Tanney could be battling it out for the third-string job in training job.
