PHILADELPHIA (WFAN) -- Free agent outfielder Andrew McCutchen agreed to a three-year, $50 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
McCutchen spent part of last season with the Yankees, acquired in an Aug. 31 trade with the San Francisco Giants. In 25 regular-season games with New York, he hit .253 with five homers and 10 RBIs. He was just 2-for-18 in the playoffs.
The Yankees had not been linked publicly to McCutchen this offseason, a point that was effectively underscored Monday when general manager Brian Cashman explained that he was not interested in free agent prize Bryce Harper because of a glut of outfielders already on the roster.
A longtime Pittsburgh Pirate, McCutchen, 32, is a five-time All-Star. He was traded to San Francisco in January and hit .255 with 20 homers and 65 RBIs combined with the Yankees and Giants in the 2018 regular season.
McCutchen was voted MVP in 2013. He has a .287 career batting average and 223 home runs.
