Bartolo Colon Interested In Return To Major League Baseball

At 46 years old, Bartolo Colon still believes he can contribute to a major league club. Colon holds the record for most wins by a pitcher born in Latin America, with 247 victories.

The pitcher dubbed "Big Sexy" was shown throwing off a mound in the Dominican Republic. In the video shared by MLB.com reporter Jesse Sanchez, Colon can be seen in familiar apparel, wearing a Mets t-shirt and shorts.

The 46-year-old Colon, pitched for the Mets from 2014 to 2016, before bouncing around the league with the Braves, Twins, and Rangers in 2017 and 2018. Colon did not land a major league contract during the 2019 season.

In his last two major league seasons, Colon compiled a less than stellar 6.13 ERA over 289.1 innings. Big Sexy's last productive year came in 2016 with the Mets, when the veteran starting pitcher went was named an All-Star, going 15-8 with a 3.43 ERA.

His fun approach and enthusiasm for baseball has made Colon a fan favorite. During his Mets' tenure, Colon had what TV play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen considered "one of the great moments in the history of baseball," when the pitcher hit a home run.

Colon also had a stint with the Yankees, rejuvenating his career in 2011. Pitching for the pinstripes, Colon made 26 starts and had an ERA of 4.00 after being out of baseball the season prior.

Both the Mets and Yankees filled holes in their rotation this week. The Yankees went big fishing, signing Gerrit Cole to a record contract and the Mets added Michael Wacha on a one-year deal.
