'Boomer & Gio': Durant Breaks His Silence, Sounds Off On Media

Kevin Durant hadn't spoken to the media in a while, and he got a lot off his chest when he finally did on Wednesday night.

The Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 141-102, but Durant still wasn't in a great mood after the game. He was asked by reporters why he hadn't been speaking to the press and if it was related to speculation over his impending free agency this summer. Durant responded by taking issue with a specific journalist: Ethan Strauss of The Athletic.

"It's unnecessary," said Durant. "You got a dude, Ethan Strauss, who comes in here and just gives his whole opinion on stuff and makes it seem like it's coming from me. And he just walks around here, don't talk to nobody, just walk in here and survey and write something like that, and now you gotta pile on me because I don't wanna talk to y'all about that."

Durant continued and pushed back on the notion that he may have already decided to join the Knicks this coming summer.

"I have nothing to do with the Knicks. I don't know who traded Porzingis. They got nothing to do with me. I'm trying to play basketball. Y'all come in here every day, ask me about free agency, ask my teammates, my coaches. You rile up the fans about it. Let us play basketball. That's all I'm saying. And now when I don't wanna talk to y'all, it's a problem with me."

Boomer & Gio opened up Thursday's action-packed show by talking about basketball, as they each had different takeaways from Durant's postgame media session. To put it simply, Boomer liked how KD handled himself, while Gregg did not.

"I totally get it. I totally understand it," said Boomer. "He's just an innoncent bystander. Like I said yesterday, even if the Knicks don't get Kevin Durant, they still had to do what they did. They still have to continue to try to shed salary and to continue to rebuild the team ... The Knicks are in the middle of that process. We all speculate that it's gonna be Kevin Durant to the Knicks, that's all we're doing. We're speculating. And then there are people that do write articles that say 'well the Knicks must know something' ... there's nothing etched in stone here, and he may want to stay there."
