Brooklyn Nets guard Carus LeVert has missed the last 20 games recovering from surgery to repair ligaments in his right thumb. He hasn't played since Brooklyn's blowout loss to the Phoenix Suns back on November 10.
As Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports, LeVert has recovered to the point where he's taking contact not just from coaches, but also from teammates during practice.
"I think just getting my legs up under me," LeVert said. "I was out about a month, a month-and-a-half or so – I don't really know how long it was – but just getting my rhythm, getting my legs back."
LeVert averaged 16.8 points (the Nets' second-leading scorer behind Kyrie Irving), 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists before the injury.
Irving has missed 19-of-30 games this season and is expected to be out 2-3 more weeks with what the team is calling right-shoulder impairment. Spencer Dinwiddie has been brilliant for Brooklyn in the absence of both Irving and LeVert.
Dinwiddie is averaging 23 points and 7 assists for the Nets this season. Since Irving's went down on Nov. 14, he's averaging 26 points on 44% shooting from the field. The Nets are 12-6 since inserting Dinwiddie into the starting lineup. They were just 4-7 before.
