Mets Add Former Yankees Reliever Chasen Shreve On Minor League Deal

The Mets have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with free agent relief pitcher Chasen Shreve, WFAN baseball insider Jon Heyman reports.

Shreve is a familiar face in New York, having spent parts of four seasons with the Yankees. He was traded to the Cardinals in 2018 in the deal that brought slugger Luke Voit to the Bronx.

Shreve, 29, spent most of last season with St. Louis' Triple-A affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds, making just three big-league appearances. The Cardinals twice designated the left-hander for assignment.

Over his six-year major league career, Shreve is 16-8 with a 3.71 ERA. His best season came in 2015, his first year with the Yankees, when he had a 3.09 ERA over 59 appearances.
