USA Hockey unveiled its initial roster ahead of the 2018 IIHF Men's World Championships. Three goaltenders, seven defensemen and 13 forwards have been selected to a 23-man roster in advance of the tournament, which will take place from May 4-20 in Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark.
All three local hockey teams will be sending members of their respective rosters to Denmark.
Blake Coleman, Brian Gibbons, Will Butcher and Keith Kinkaid will represent the Devils. The foursome helped New Jersey qualify for the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It was the club's first playoff appearance since 2012.
Rangers duo Chris Kreider and Neal Pionk have been selected. Kreider netted 16 goals in an injury-shortened season. Pionk tallied 14 points in 28 games during his 2017-18 rookie campaign.

Anders Lee is the lone Islander named to the roster. Lee previously was part of the 2015 team that helped the United States to a bronze medal at the 2015 IIHF Worlds. The 27-year-old forward set career highs in goals (40), assists (22) and points (62) this past season.
The United States last captured gold at the tournament in 1960. Through 69 tournament appearances, the United States has earned two gold medals, nine silver medals and seven bronze medals.
Buffalo, New York, native Patrick Kane (Blackhawks) was named captain on April 9. Johnny Gaudreau (Flames) of Carneys Point, New Jersey, and Sonny Milano (Blue Jackets), of Massapequa, New York, were also named to the roster.
