The Jets' 2016 second-round draft pick went just 10-of-23 for 87 yards with an interception for the Memphis Express, who lost to the Birmingham Iron, 26-0.
By halftime, Hackenberg was 3-of-11 for 20 yards with an interception. He was pulled with four minutes left in the game for backup Brandon Silvers.

When general manager Mike Maccagnan drafted Hackenberg, some thought the former Penn State star might develop into the Jets' elusive franchise QB. But there were reports that Hackenberg was wildly inaccurate in practices and couldn't even break the huddle properly.
Gang Green traded him to the Oakland Raiders in May for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. The Raiders cut him a week later. He later spent some time on the Philadelphia Eagles' preseason roster and the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad.
