Jets CEO Christopher Johnson once again refused to place a playoff mandate on his general manager and head coach Sunday, but he made it clear he has higher expectations for the team.

"I sure as hell hope we're a playoff team," Johnson told reporters at the annual league meetings in Phoenix. "Look, I want to win every game. We can't get there fast enough. I've said it before: I'm an impatient man. I want this team to win. I think we have a really good chance to be a quite good team this year."

In fact, Johnson joked that he's already thinking ahead to how he'd celebrate a Super Bowl win.

"Look, if we win a Lombardi Trophy, I'll wear it around like a crown until people are sick of me and say, 'You take that off his head,'" Johnson said.

Equipped with $82 million entering free agency, the Jets, who went 4-12 in 2018, have signed free agent running Le'Veon Bell, linebacker linebacker C.J. Mosley and wide receiver Jamison Crowder and traded for guard Kelechi Osemele. Bell, Mosley and Osemele have each been selected to multiple Pro Bowls.

"These were impact players," Johnson said. "These are kind of like a wish list. As a matter of fact, it is a wish list because we put together the list prior to free agency, and we got a number of the people we were hoping for."

Johnson, however, added that the Jets still have holes and GM Mike Maccagnan's work is not done. Johnson added that protecting second-year quarterback Sam Darnold and giving him targets to throw to are crucial and he feels good about the acquisitions made in those areas as well as the development of players already on the roster, namely tight end Chris Herndon.

The Jets did suffer one stunning setback this offseason when four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr backed out of an agreement to re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

"We want people on our team who want to be New York Jets," Johnson said. "Not everybody wants to be in New York. If he didn't want to be here, that's fine. It's disappointing when someone backs out on an agreement, but we want people who are all in."
