D'Angelo Russell knows the word "playoffs" is now getting tossed around in regards to the Brooklyn Nets, but he doesn't want to look too far ahead.

"I've never been to the playoffs," the Nets point guard told WFAN's "Benigno and Roberts" on Thursday. "I really don't know what it takes to make it to the playoffs. So I try to stay where I'm at, keep that same mentality of one game at a time.

"I'm enjoying the process of whatever that outcome may be when that time comes."

The Nets have won 18 of their last 25 games and sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn has not reached the postseason since 2015.

Russell has been a huge reason for the team's success. The fourth-year point guard is averaging a career-high 19.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game -- including 26.7 points and 7.4 assists over his last seven games.

Once upon a time, Brooklyn was 8-18 and regularly blowing leads late in games.

"We had a players' meeting, and a lot of veteran players really stepped up and spoke up and let us kind of know what it was, and guys just bought into it," Russell explained. "And it just made the process of turning things around that much more easier."

Russell said those early-season struggles helped the team grow into what it is today.

"Definitely a learning experience," he said. "We actually got to dissect the film after each of those games and really see what went wrong. But the positive about is we gave ourselves a chance (in the losses), and I would say we kind of beat ourselves."
