Daniel Jones will return to the Giants' starting lineup Sunday "barring anything crazy," coach Pat Shurmur said Friday.
The rookie quarterback missed the past two games with a high-ankle sprain. Jones suffered the injury in a 31-13 loss to the Packers on Dec. 1 when Green Bay linebacker Preston Smith landed on his leg.
Jones was a full participant in practices Wednesday and Thursday. The 3-11 Giants will visit the 3-11 Redskins on Sunday.
Jones has seen action in 11 games this season (10 starts). He has passed for 2,374 yards with 18 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 61.6 completion percentage. The Giants have gone 2-8 in Jones' starts, with one of those victories coming against the Redskins in Week 4, 24-3.
Jones' injury allowed for Eli Manning to start what are likely his two final games with the team. Last week, Manning led Big Blue to a home win over the Miami Dolphins, and Giants fans were able to pay tribute to the two-time Super Bowl MVP.
