Cory Schneider's struggles have landed him on the waiver wire.
The Devils goaltender was placed on waivers Monday. The team plans to assign him to AHL Binghamton if he clears waivers as expected.
Schneider, 33, has played in six games this season, has a 0-4-2 record and posted career worsts in save percentage (.852) and goals-against average (4.59).
"We had a similar situation with him last year, he came back and played well for us at the end of the year."
Schneider is signed through the 2021-22 season and earns $6 million a year.
Second-year goalie MacKenzie Blackwood has started 13 of the Devils' 19 games and has a .904 save percentage and 2.79 GAA.
The Devils called up Louis Domingue from Binghamton on Monday to back up Blackwood. The 27-year-old has played in 122 games over five seasons with the Coyotes and Lightning.
New Jersey is 7-8-4 (18 points) and in a three-way tie for last place in the Metropolitan Division.
