Didi Gregorius and Giancarlo Stanton both had home openers Tuesday that Yankees fans won't soon forget -- but for two very different reasons.
Gregorius went for 4-for-4 with a pair of three-run homers, eight RBIs and three runs scored in the Yankees' 11-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on a rainy day at Yankee Stadium.
Meanwhile, Stanton, making his debut in pinstripes, went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts and was booed by the home crowd.
"You put up a performance like that, you should get some boos," Stanton said.
"I was awful today."
While Stanton's rough night certainly won't go unnoticed, he should be able to thank Gregorius for taking some of the heat off him with a career performance. Gregorius set a record for RBIs in a game by a Yankees shortstop and drove in the most runs of any Bronx Bomber since Alex Rodriguez in April 2005.

"One of those guys you like that he's on your side," manager Aaron Boone said of Gregorius.
After the game, Gregorius tried to deflect the attention from himself.
"Guys got on base on for me, so I think that was something good," Gregorius told the YES Network. "And I got some good pitches to hit, and I hit them out. For us, winning is everything, so that's the only thing I worry about."
Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge each had two hits for the Yankees (3-2), who had to wait a day to play their first home game due to Monday's snowstorm.

The game was tied 4-4 after six innings, but the Yankees scored four runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to pull away.
Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery allowed one run on two hits over five innings in a no-decision. Tommy Kahnle (1-0), who tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, earned the win.
The Rays' Chris Archer gave up four runs on six hits while striking out eight, although Austin Pruitt (1-1), who gave up Gregorius' second home run, in the seventh inning, was tagged with the loss.
