Noah Syndergaard is one of the best pitchers the Mets have. He has had an ERA under 3.3 in each of his first four years in the league, but he's known just as much for his hair and height as he is for his dominance on the mound.

So when Syndergaard posted a picture on Wednesday morning that showed him about to get a haircut, some Mets fans panicked. Had one of the best manes in baseball been chopped off so suddenly?

It's tough to even picture the 26-year-old without his trademark locks, but thankfully you won't have to anytime soon. We were being trolled.

Some hair was cut on the sides, but this wasn't a buzz-cut. Instead, it was just a slight trim to prepare Syndergaard for his appearance on season 6 of the History Channel show "Vikings."

Hair: Party on top, business on the sides #Vikings style. On the set of HISTORY's drama "Vikings" filming an episode for season six. Catch the midseason 5 premiere on Nov. 28 on HISTORY. Look out for "Thorbjorn"-he's a Badass @HistoryVikings pic.twitter.com/1Q5EXTe64y

Syndergaard's character on the show will be appropriately named "Thorbjorn." The Mansfield, Texas native previously made a cameo in season 7 of HBO's Game of Thrones, but this Vikings role was the one that he clearly was born to play. His resemblance to a legendary Norse seafarer is uncanny.

According to TMZ Sports, UFC fighter Conor McGregor was also set to appear in an episode of "Vikings", but he bailed at the last minute.

Syndergaard didn't bail, and you can expect to see him on your TV when season 6 of "Vikings" airs at some point in 2019.
