ESPN draft guru Todd McShay won't be joining the Jets' front office.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported Thursday night that McShay has removed his name from consideration for a personnel role under new Jets general manager Joe Douglas and will remain with ESPN.

McShay, who has been with ESPN since 1996, said last week that he was among the candidates being considered for Douglas' staff. The two men were reportedly expected to talk this week. It's unclear if that conversation ever happened.

McShay and Douglas, who was formally introduced at One Jets Drive this week, were teammates at the University of Richmond -- McShay was a scout-team quarterback, and Douglas was an offensive lineman.

Other names reportedly in the mix to join Douglas' staff are former Browns general manager Phil Savage and Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly, who interviewed for the Jets' GM opening earlier this month. Douglas and Savage worked together on the Baltimore Ravens in the early 2000s, and Kelly and the Jets' new general manager were colleagues on the 2015 Chicago Bears.
