There is no love lost between former Jets quarterback Geno Smith and his ex-head coach, Rex Ryan.
In case anyone forgot, the two reignited their feud on Wednesday after Ryan took a shot at his former quarterback during an ESPN First Take segment discussing if Bill Belichick can succeed without Tom Brady.
“Give him Geno Smith … and let’s see how many Super Bowls he would have won,” Ryan said.
Smith caught wind of the comment and unloaded on Ryan via Twitter.
My momma never liked dude he been a snake.. and y’all glorify it.. should’ve got fired after yr1.. truth is we won 8 games after ESPN had us winning two and he got his job back.. somehow I’m caught up in a feud and I’m the scapegoat.. Same guy that drafted me#TheBusiness

Smith continued to criticize Ryan in a few more tweets:
I could easily go on and on about the bs I see but truthfully I’m so happy I don’t even bother.. God put me in this position where even my enemies gotta mention my name.. so I just sit back and watch the show!

April 8, 2020 Smith played four seasons with the Jets, going 12-18 in that span — 11-18 under Ryan as head coach. Ryan was fired after Smith’s second season, but the quarterback also lost the starting job to journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick the next season — which was the same season Smith fractured his jaw in training camp when he was sucker-punched by then-teammate IK Enemkpali.
Ryan, meanwhile, has not coached in the NFL since 2016 — when he was head coach of the Buffalo Bills. He has since become a talking head on ESPN and made waves last week when he called Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper a “turd.”
