Giancarlo Stanton Homers To Extend Yankees Lead In ALCS Game 1

Giancarlo Stanton is back, and he's back in a big way.

The Yankees were leading 2-0 in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the ALCS when Stanton stepped up to the plate. Zack Greinke wasn't pitching as well as he had been earlier in the game, and No. 27 made him pay.

Stanton took Greinke deep to right-center field to extend the Yankees lead. It was a big moment for Stanton, who missed nearly the entire regular season due to various injuries.

Greinke knew where that ball was going the second it left the bat.

Seeing Stanton make such good contact is a great sign for Yankee fans. Aaron Boone knows what he's going to get from the likes of Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge, but Stanton also getting back to form would be a huge plus. That would make this lineup even more deadly than it already is.

Stanton's dinger came just two batters after Torres hit one out to left field. Both homers were solo shots.

The home runs got the Yankees on their way as they ultimately won the game 7-0.

The Yankees added another two runs in the seventh inning. Again, Torres was involved. The 22-year-old has been as clutch as can be so far this postseason.
