New York Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas was arrested on Monday for a hit-and-run in Chico, Calif. which may have also involved alcohol, according to TMZ Sports.
Per the report, law enforcement said the 25-year-old was driving his black Chevrolet SUV around 100 mph at about 8:25 a.m. when he failed to stop at a red light and collided into the side of a pickup truck.
Rosas fled the scene of the accident until his car broke down shortly afterward. Per witnesses, Rosas exited the vehicle and began to run.
Police eventually found Rosas walking near the site of the crash and noticed his hands, legs and bare feet were covered in blood when they began to question him.
Rosas admitted to law enforcement that he was the owner of the SUV. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated before he was booked at Butte County Jail for a hit-and-run charge and driving a suspended license.
An investigation is still ongoing, but law enforcement believes alcohol may have played a factor as well.
The Giants confirmed to media that they were aware of the incident and in communication with Rosas, but had “no further comment at the time.”
Rosas is a three-year veteran with the Giants and was a Pro Bowler in 2018 after a shoddy rookie season. Last year Rosas made 12 of 17 field goals and 35 of 39 extra points.
Rosas is the second Giants player to be arrested this offseason. Cornerback DeAndre Baker was arrested for armed robbery, but could have his case dropped.
