Evan Engram hasn't played since Week 9, and now his season is officially done.
The Giants announced Tuesday that Engram has been placed on injured reserve, ruling him out for the team's final two games. Engram has been dealing with a foot sprain that he was unable to make enough of a recovery from.

— New York Giants (@Giants) December 17, 2019In eight games, Engram had managed 44 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns.
There's no question that Engram is a talented tight end, but this is now the second consecutive season where he has been consistently limited by injuries. Last year, he only played in 11 games.
It's unclear if Engram would have been able to play more if the Giants were still in contention. There's no real reason to risk him when the team is 3-11 and has nothing left to play for other than pride.
If Engram can stay healthy next year, he'll be one of a few quality options for Daniel Jones in the passing game. He's still just 25-years-old and has quite a lot of his career ahead of him. The emergence of Darius Slayton this season is a boost to the receiving corps, but New York will need its big tight end to stay on the field.
The Giants will have two more chances to improve their record before 2019 is done. Engram will miss two last NFC East clashes with the Redskins and the Eagles.
Engram is under contract for next season. After that, the Giants will have an option to extend his contract for a fifth year for 2021.
