EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (WFAN) -- The Giants released cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Sunday.
The move comes a day after NFL Network reported that Rodgers-Cromartie was asked to take a "significant pay cut." Rodgers-Cromartie, who turns 32 next month, was also asked to move to safety, but he refused, NFL Network reported.
DRC responded to the news on Twitter, writing: "Once a Giant always a Giant right. Thanks for everything, Ima miss my dogs but y'all knw me, SEE BALL, GET BALL!!!

Rodgers-Cromartie signed a five-year, $35 million contract with the Giants as a free agent in March 2014. In 53 games with Big Blue, he registered 193 tackles and 11 interceptions. DRC was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015.

Last season, he played in 15 games but was limited to just six starts and did not record an interception and had just one pass defensed. He was also suspended for one game by then-coach Ben McAdoo after he walked out of the practice facility when told he would be inactive the following Sunday.
The 16th overall draft pick in 2008 by the Arizona Cardinals, Rodgers-Cromartie also has played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos over his 10-year career.
The Giants, under new general manager Dave Gettleman, have been busy positioning themselves for the start of the free agency period, which begins Wednesday. On Saturday, they released punter Brad Wing, clearing $1.025 million in salary cap space.
